The true story of Irena Sendler and a group of young Polish women who risked their lives to save Jewish children from the Warsaw Ghetto. In the film, for the first time ninety-five-year-old Irena tells on camera the story that remained unspoken for many years after the war. The film also features a group of her colleagues and Holocaust children saved by them, as well as social workers and historians, among them, prof. Wladyslaw Bartoszewski.
In 1965 Irena Sendler was awarded the title of “Righteous among the Nations” for her wartime activities. In 2007 she was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. She passed away peacefully at her home in Warsaw on May 12, 2008 at the age of 98.

Prawdziwa historia Ireny Sendlerowej i grupy młodych Polek, które ryzykowały życie, aby ratować od zagłady żydowskie dzieci z warszawskiego getta. W filmie 95-letnia Irena Sendlerowa opowiada historię tamtych czasów, którą przez wiele lat trzymała w tajemnicy. W dokumencie występują także jej współpracowniczki, osoby ocalone przez nie od zagłady oraz działacze społeczni i historycy m.in. prof. Władysław Bartoszewski.
Irena Sendlerowa za ratowanie Żydów w czasie drugiej wojny światowej otrzymała w 1965 roku tytuł “Sprawiedliwy wśród Narodów Świata”. Była nominowana do Pokojowej Nagrody Nobla w 2007 roku. Zmarła 12 maja 2008 roku w Warszawie w wieku 98 lat.
